I searched some of the previous threads on wind forecast websites and discovered some have gone belly-up!

Any recommendations for inland lake wind forecasts?

Thanks

Above is my fav. Starting from below and selecting aviation forecast. The aviation layout is nice as it gives you the cloud cover and temps all together. Not many days out but very accurate.

I like to start here to get the overall picture.

and the windmapper is good for longer term forecasting.

Paws is hard to beat when you are out and you want to see the radar on your cell phone. Loads only what you need in case your signal is weak.

Wow - this week with the mid-west High Pressure dome now centered over the East, we've had some awesome SWerlies and Westerlies all week on LI Sound.

On Tuesday eve I was fully sheeted with 10-15 kts and was on a solid 20 degree heel.

Thursday night we got a lot more puffy winds out of the west.

Today even with 100 degree temperatures, we had a land breeze out of the northwest that was blowing up to 15 kts.

Tomorrow will be more of the same, and Sunday we expect to have a back-door cold front (off the Gulf of Maine), so we may get a shift to NE-erlies. Possible thunder.

My fav for wind forecast is NOAA's weather.gov, and I look at the digital forecast that provides snapshots for wind speed and direction and wind gusts in the next 5-7 days. The hourly forecast is cool too: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=41.25858&lon=-73.17890&unit=0&lg=english&FcstType=graphical

I also like www.windfinder.com. http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/bridgeport_airport for my neck of the woods.
