Does anyone know where, on what part of the boat, the electrical system is grounded on a 95' 250 WB?
Thanks

Unless you have an inboard there is no hull ground on a 250. The only ground is the negative pole of the battery.

I'm going to upgrade my electrical system with shore power that will charge 2 new batteries. Is it dangerous not to be grounded to the hull? If so, can you recommend a place to ground it to?
Thanks

The hull, being fiberglass, cannot act as a ground (ok, if lightening strikes, then it will, but that's not 12v!)

WARNING: If you connect the negative side of the 12v system to the 'ground' of the 110v ac shore power system then you had better know what you are doing.

It's my understanding that the only route for common ground between 12v and 110v is potentially a battery charger or converter that is connected to the 12v system.

Our 110v system has no connection between the two systems as our battery charger is disconnected)

Your shore power should be grounded to the shore power outlet via the third wire, with a ground-fault interruptor (which breaks the circuit if current flows through the ground wire). The shore power system must be isolated from the water. Your 12v system is grounded to the battery, period. ("Ground" is something of a misnomer with DC--it's more like a "common negative" or "negative bus."

I'll recommend buying a copy of something like Don Casey's Sailboat Electrics Simplified.
