From the AJC Neswpaper:

"Authorities say a fisherman found a sport utility vehicle, which had been reported stolen last year, submerged in Lake Lanier. Col. Jeff Strickland tells The Times of Gainesville the find was made Tuesday afternoon at the Mountain View Park boat ramp.

He said the fisherman saw "oily bubbles" coming from the water near the boat ramp and used his sonar to look at the object, which appeared to be a vehicle.

Strickland said the blue 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser was reported stolen in June 2010 from a residence on Browns Bridge Road. "

I can just see them:

"Bubba.. Is that a Blue '07 yota I see on the sonar????"

No darned wonder we lose anchors....

I'm glad there wasn't a body in it. A few years ago the water level on our local reservoir was reduced more than normal to allow work to be done on the ramps. A car was seen that had been driven into the water from the ramp, sadly there was a person in the car. He had been reported missing about a year earlier. If the water had only been lowered to normal winter levels, who knows if the poor guy would ever have been found. The authorities determined that the individual intentionally drove into the water too.
