I want to put some speakers in the cockpit but before I do I wanted to know if anyone else has done this also. I am thinking of installing them on the bulkhead but It looks like the bulkhead at the companion way is a double skin which may pose a problem cutting it out and feeding wires through it. Comments
I have them on the coaming near the transom. (Port one is below bilge pump.) They were installed by a previous owner. One of them leaks rain water & I'm still trying to fix it. This is one of the very few things on my boat that previous owners did poorly.
For this reason, I'm not a fan of any exterior flush mount for speakers. I'd suggest surface mount (i.e., brackets) under the perch seats.

You may want to consider true "marine" speakers only because Polyplaners have been metalically shielded to keep them from screwing with your compass and/or tillerpilot. I've had Polyplaner's before and they are excellent speakers. They are mounted neatly under the stern rail seats which keeps them out of the sun and weather quite a bit, the speaker wire is run around the stern seat support rail, through a small hole in the transom and along the side to the stereo at the galley.
