After years of cheap battery chargers destroying my batteries, I decided to plunk some coin on the Xantrex Truecharge2 20 amp battery charger with remote. The cool thing is that it is utterly flexible in how you program it - set to AGM versus Flooded, gelcell, etc. It also has a temperature probe you connect to the battery post and it adjusts itself in accordance with battery temperature.

Here is the remote installed. http://seatitude.intuitwebsites.com/xant2_op_640x853.jpg

FYI, the pro-mariner that I pulled out doesn't even use tinned copper wire for the A/C section. Hope this solves my battery woes, but how many of have said that for decades?

I fried 2 standard deep cycles before I solved my dilemma, but went the solar charger route. Got a 45 watt panel and haven't had a problem since.
