I've seen the same bit of kit used on youtube, some sailors using a hunter edge, and intentionally knocking it down. Showed it to the wife as reassurance, that it is difficult to capsize a keelboat. Moreso when we keep it <15°heal angle.
I showed this to one of my sailing friends, and he sent me back this:
When I first saw it, I thought the mast was caught on the bridge, but it's not, they're using the same method as in the video, except for the going through the opening sideways.
If that's on a river and they're drifting through, how do they get back?

I like the guy in this pic standing in the cocpit with his arms crossed. Looks like this isn't the first time the've done this!
Seems like if they could afford to build this boat they could afford a slip where they didn't have to lay the boat on its side to go sailing.

Still, those guys were cool as cucumbers (in the fridge)! Nice job.
I was looking at the geometry on the sailboat video. If there were a sufficient righting moment passing by, like a huge wake from a powerboat, I would not be surprised to see the mast rise up and the counterweights swing toward the mast. Other than a precarious balance, what would prevent the boat from rising up at the worst possible time?
