I'm seriously considering selling my beloved "Gracie". I have another two weeks of sailing opportunities this year and that will probably be it. She's been well cared for, has lots of extras and set up for single handing as well as any 250 could be. She's a '98 WB, Hull Number 360 ( hows that for a "round number". I was going to name her "Full Circle" but opted for naming her after my daughter). As I never intended to sell her I have yet to check out what price boats of this model and vintage are bringing. She's located in Riverside NJ across the Delaware River from N.E. Philadelphia. Watch here for additional info.
I've been to several websites and spoken to two sales people from marinas that sell Catalina Yachts. The "book value" of Gracie with the options listed at these sites ranges from $12,400 to $14,200. Gracie however has some extras and upgrades not addressed at these sites.
Extra winches etc that make her a breeze (forgive the pun) to single hand.
There are two 3 gallon Honda fuel tanks and two 6 gallon tanks that fit in both the fuel locker and the cockpit seat. (One of the 6 gallon tanks has never been used.) I found on my first trip from Philadelphia to the Northern Chesapeake that one three and one six gallon tank was sufficient.
A brand new Catalina mainsail still in the box. I got a good buy and knew I would need it sooner or later. (As I said this sale was not in my plans)
Teak and Holly sole plate in the cabin
Spare (brand new) prop for the 9.9 Honda. Electric Start/Alternator
VHF radio w/masthead mount antenna
Roller furling 130 jib
Camper top that is pristine. It was used exactly two times.
Full cockpit cushions including cushions for catbird seats and fuel locker.
Extra anchor, vests, dock lines, boat hooks etc, etc, etc
The asking price is set at 11,500 and that will include the winter storage which has already been paid. If you know anyone who is interested in a well cared-for 250 please let them know.
John: No I do not have a trailer. Where I keep the boat (Dredge Harbor on the Delaware River) has an entrance channel that is shallow and at certain moon phases can be too shallow to navigate. With this boat I never need to worry about that. Anyone who sails in shallow water can appreciate the value of.I've never had to adjust my departure or return time to sync with the tide.
Rhythm Doctor: Right now I'm going to keep the sail with the boat. The main I am using surely has several summers of service left in it but I think the new one will be a big selling point. In the event I find a buyer without including the new sail I will keep you in mind. ps I believe you bought your boat at Winters where Ive been for years.
It looks as though we all have inflated ideas regarding the value of our 250s in today's market. I've had Gracie up for sale for three months now at a price below the "book value" and have had no serious callers, just a few people browsing but not looking to buy. Its not as though they look at the boat and find it deficient in any way (it is in very good shape) the don't even want to look. Should you know anyone looking I will entertain any "reasonable" offer.
Sorry your boat is not selling and indeed the market has gone to heck. I suspect your problem is exacerbated by the boat being a WB with no trailer. The big advantage of the WB is it's easy trailering.
Alas, its time to face reality. This economy is not a good time to sell a boat regardless of its good condition. The fact remains that I must part with her. If you have knowledge of anyone who may be interested in a nice boat I'm willing to entertain any reasonable offer.
I inadvertently signed in as jinman2560 on the previous post. Since we have both signed in on this PC in the past it is easier to do that you might think. Consider it a senior moment.
Apology!
In any event the previous post regarding the sale of "Gracie" and the lowering of the price still stands and the contact info in that post is correct.
Joe, I haven't been on site in a while. Sorry to hear of your boat sale, I am in market for a new jib for my WK250. Looking for a 135 rolling furl if you have such as an extra. Good luck
The sale cycle is taking a long time right now. I looked for over 10 months before I found the 25 I added to the family. and the previous post on the trailer is correct.
Where are you listing her? I don't see you on Sailingtexas.com, which is a well-known site nationally, and free.
Have you considered a broker, who would get her on Yachtworld.com (broker listings only) and shares commissions with buyers' brokers around the country? I bought Passage through a broker--sold her in about 36 hours without one--those were very different times.
I'll be leaving this site as I've sold Gracie. (The truth is that I'm sure I'll check in from time to time.) Gracie began her career on the Hudson River in New York with her original owners and I took her to the Delaware River at Philadelphia/Riverside, NJ and points south. A really nice couple from Illinois have purchased her and will introduce her to the lakes in that area, primarily Lake Michigan. I wish them all the best and hope they enjoy the boat as much as I did.
I wish to thank everyone at this site who offered aid when I posted questions. Although I've been sailing for more years than I'm comfortable admitting I was totally new to the 250. Those who have been on this site for many years are most welcoming and patient with new members who ask questions that have undoubtedly been asked and answered dozens of times.
Hey Joe, congrats on selling Gracie! Like I told you over the phone, I knew things would get better with the spring weather. I'll assume, unless you reply otherwise, that the new mainsail went with her.

There were several 250 WBs out there without trailers and that main did give me the edge I believe. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> Joe - That's great! I hope you're able to "get back in the game" at some point.
