I got another chance out past the jetties. This time I gave the crew dramamine before we left. It was very nice. We had a steady 10-12 knot wind with 1-2 foot seas. The seas don't show up in the picture, but they do make for a bumpy ride. Happily nobody got sick this time, and we had a great time. Unfortunately, we had to fight a 4 knot current coming back (following a full moon), and the wind decided to quit, so we had to motor-sail part way. It took us an hour to get out, and 3 hours to get back. It was definitely more fun than tooling around in the sound with all the fishermen racing by. I can't wait for another nice day during the holidays.
Tray: Plan anead next time. It could be a bad thing if you could not get back in time. Tides and current can be bad enough but if the wind had switched around you could of had some real trouble. Just a thought. Been there done that
Just read your message. I took a week off from work. But been very busy.
My soldier son came home for Christmas and I spent some time with him. And we've sold our house to move two streets over into a bigger house and lot on the creek. So we've been packing and doing repairs.
I did finally get to sail a couple of hours this afternoon and it was gorgeous. Caught up to a Freedom 28. Strange vessel that looks like a sloop and a cat boat in one! I'm going to look it up on the web.
