My wife and I are going to do some sailing in the Pensacola Florida Area. We are going to Emerald Coast Sailing School for some Advance courses on a Catalina 36 than will have a couple of days to ourselves on the boat. We wanted to anchor out and do some swimming/hiking/island Hopping. Any recommendations? We are going the end of March. Thanks

Ingram Bayou. Check my destination article in the Mainsheet a couple of issues ago. I can email it to you if you don't have it. Stopover in Grande Lagoon and dingy to the beach on Perdido Key, or go east in Santa Rosa Sound along the Gulf Island National Seashore to Navarre. Shallow water is an issue as you close on shore on both Perdido Key and Santa Rosa Island, so charts and positioning are very important. Eat at Pegleg Pete's in P. Beach and Surf Burger (across from Sabine Marina) if you've had enough seafood. The Fish House in Pensacola is a very nice casual dinner; I never used good and grits in the same sentence until I had their smoked gouda cheese grits. Visit Ft. Pickens if you have a car. I used to keep Pearl at Sabine Marina, but now I am wintering at Sabine Yacht and Racquet Club and have a slip. To bad that I'll probably be leaving PB on the 17th.
Dave, I found the article!, thanks for your reply. I WILL send you an email. We are excited even though we have Chartered 40' Beneteaus on the Chesapeake and BVI, we are taking our sailing education to the next level and look forward to it. We will have some time to look around and evaluate the area for the future. Emerald Coast Sailing school is ASA and has been written up with positive recomendations and they are tailoring the courses to us. Sorry Ed, only Admiral are I are going..She has to be ALOT more fun than you! ;)
