I searched, but could not find any info on in-boom mailsail furlers. Does anyone have one or can recommend one and what is the cost?

I believe Pro Furl, LeisureFurl, and Lewmar make them. You might check their websites. I haven't priced them, but the one on displ;ay looked expensive.

Since you already have the CDI FF4 furler have you looked at the CDI Mainsail Reefing System? It is not an in-boom system but might be to your liking.

The CDI system (and others like it) are obviously less expensive, although they'll require some mods to the main. Either the sail can have no roach (as in CDI's pix), or it needs to accommodate vertical battens, which can support some degree of a roach. I suspect an in-boom furler would require some mods to the batten pockets on most sails, to make them horizontal. And of course either way, a bolt rope on the foot would have to be removed and replaced with a cable in the luff...

All that said, wouldn't it be nice...

There used to be an O'Day 28 or 30 a couple of slips over from me than had the CDI main furler. I took some pictures but I'm not sure where they are now. If I find them I'll post here.

Tom Potter bought an O'Day 28 with a CDI main furler. If I recall he said he likes it. Maybe he'll drop by and comment. If not you could e-mail him through the forum.
