Does anyone know the size of the clevis pin that secures the furler to the stem? The one that is on my furler is to long and appears to be about 1 size to small. I dont want to have to secure the mast and remove it, then run down to the nearest boat shop to hopefully find the correct size if there is an easier way.

Sorry, I don't know off hand and the boat's an hour away. If no one has the right answer, I'd go to the local boat store and buy a couple that look close, come back and install the right one and return the others.

Jay, If the proper terminology is correct [Luff support pin]. The CDI manual says it is 1/4" x 2 1/4" pin.

Since you were worried about securing the mast, I was thinking you were talking about the pin that secures the forestay. If it's just the pin that holds the luff of the furler up off the drum then, there's no risk to the mast if you pull it. The luff tape will simply drop down and you'll need a littl help lifting the tape and headsail up to replace the pin.

The forestay runs through the luff tape and is secured under the drum with a turnbuckle and shackle to the bow tang. The mast remains secure if you completely dis-assemble furler. It is a HUGE ASSUMPTION on my part that it is not the forestay pin. Before you pull anything, be clear which it is.

Having said all that, I'd probably tie the extra halyard off to the pulpit anyway but, I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy.
