I just looked at the burgee flying set up in the tech tips and it shows the line from the starboard spreader to the main stay. I have my main stays covered with PVC pipe up 6' to protect the genoa. I have parts to install the system but the cleat needs to go on the mast. I would not think that would be a problem. Have any of you guys done that?

I have some cleats riveted to the mast for burgees. Done by the PO.

My stay cleats are about 5 feet off the deck or so. You could always cut the PVC down a bit...

I have a small marelon cleat near the bottom of the mast for the flag halyard. There are a number of holes in my mast from previous owners attaching and removing things and it hasn't fallen yet.

I like the idea of starting the shroud cleat 5' up the stay. Keeps the pathway clear.

That was my thought as well - cut the plastic down to about 5' or so...but you guys beat me to it.

Larry, we all know you're just playing "me too". Don't try to take credit for Peter and Dave's idea. (kidding)

I don't know why my second post didn't stick. I said that the 5' approach would be handy on the mast too, but I used existing holes.

The cleat is now 5' - 6" up the mast. No more projects this winter-boat is ready for a swim.
