Knowing the Dutch (who ride bikes instead of driving cars), I doubt many Americans are going to be able to participate in that. We went a different way--about 109 years ago--the aerial stinkpot, for the American lifestyle.
If you look closely the wings are never really completely "loaded" with lift. From what I've read elsewhere plus reviewing this video I'm betting it's a fake. Even when he's gliding the wings don't look "loaded" like they would if supporting themsleves and a human body.

It looked to me like he flared his landing perfectly, as if he has been doing it ever since he fell out of the nest.

When flapping, the fabric oscillates from bowed up to bowed down. The wings are articulated with "elbows" so they generate more power on the down-stroke than on the up-stroke, like a bird. I'd rather believe! (...although I don't think my pecs are up to it!)
