Currently the closed bimini rests on the horizonal hatch on the salon roof. To open the hatch, i.e., slid it forward, I must reach over the hatch to the bimini and lift it, simultaneously pushing the hatch forward. Has anyone developed a a meanhs to rest the bimini such that it does not need to be lifted to push open the hatch.
I tie a loop around the closed bimini and have a small captive-pin shackle at the other end which I clip to the pig tail. The closed bimini is "hanging" to the rear, mostly out of the way:
edit: I need to add though, that my bimini is mounted on the T-track. For me to open the bimini, I unclip it, then untie the loop and then slide the bimini forward on the track so that the mainsheet can be set-up on the backside of the bimini.
I used adjustable struts instead of the aft straps, so when I folded the bimini, it ended up in the same position as the aft part of the frame in this shot:
