Ever bought something on the spur of the moment because it looked like it might solve a problem for you? You know in the back of your head it may well not, heck, you even expect that it might not, but the price was low enough that you'd take the chance?
That was me wandering through Costco on Thursday and came across the Bon Aire Ultimate Water Blaster. I have six bare spots on my hull where my trailer pads sit and while I try to keep them brushed, it's not so easy to reach them. This thing has a rotating nozzle assembly and two heads, one "power" and one fan. And extends to 7' long.
Today, while waiting for Rita to get ready to go down to the boat, I decided to try it out on the moss on my back deck. Moss is an ongoing problem in the PNW so it's good to knock it back every so often, especially since it's getting to be grilling season and we'll spend more time out there.
I screwed it onto the end of my hose, and opened the tap all the way. The wand has a separate ball valve so you can easily control it at the working end. I directed the spray using the power nozzle and was pleasantly surprised. Moss started scurrying off my deck. Nice! I knocked down all the big patches which were easy, and started going after smaller and smaller patches which aren't so easy. I think the smaller growth tends to stick directly to the concrete whereas the larger stuff is clumped on top of itself. At least that's my theory.
It's not as powerful as a pressure washer (which I've also got, but it's a pain to use), but it gets at least one job done for me that I've been putting off. Now I can knock down all the moss that's growing in the the north shadows around the house.
Anyway, I'm quite pleased with it, I"ll let you know how it works on the boat, we're getting ready to head down there right now.
The Amazon price listed above is a couple of bucks more than the Costco price, and it doesn't look like it comes with the extra fan head (it might, didn't look too close).

Bought one that looks to be the same brand. The water pressure at the marina is inordinately high. As soon as I opened the valve water come gushing out of the wand. Water was also squirting out around the swivel neck. All it took was one accidental bump against the hull and the head broke off. After inspecting the break - it was no surprise - very small piece of plastic at the swivel.
Great idea, powerful spray, great price - but maybe too good to be true.
Well the boat review's going to have to wait, other things took our attention this afternoon. But it was a pretty good day, till the end, when we got a flat & had to change the tire.
