We lowered the mast this weekend with plans to inspect all of the rigging closely and get familiar with everything. We still have wire to rope halyards, and will likely keep those for the next few seasons, INCL external instead of internal.
On the list: upgrade anchor light, upgrade steaming light to steam/deck light. Replace VHF coax. What wiring do you use for the lights, the existing deck connectors are toast, and thought of using a mil-spec off-the shelf unit.
Words of caution / advice? heck, we have been working and working, and it is time to get out there and sail a little......!!!

Sorry, I know it's not a direct answer to your question, but I'd suggest checking the sheaves on the masthead while you have it down. Mine were in horrible shape, and made it difficult to work the halyards. I replaced them (switched to all rope, too) and am very glad I did.
Anyhoo.. I took about 5 years to finish mine. In the meantime.. I kept ( literally ) flashlights with duct tape and lenses on them. ( http://www.rangerjoes.com/ ) Lots of places also sell a red/green clamp on light ( we still had to duct tape it to the rail ) As backup nav lights in case of failure.
Raise an LED light up the halyard for an anchor light.
Mast Wiring harness from Catalina Direct was sweet..
New wire from the battery, rebuilt the panel, to the deck to the light.
We had our mast down about a month ago. You can find the existing thread on the subject.
I bet your sheaves are shot. I don't see a good reason to not replace the halyards now, they just aren't that expensive. We stuck with external halyards, but switched to all rope with new sheaves, and it was a good improvement.
I put on new turnbuckles for the forestay, backsty, and upper shrouded. They are so much nicer to work with that in going to replace the lower turnbuckles too.
I put on a new mast step organizer plate from CD and highly recommend that. It makes it a lot easier to play with my running rigging layout.

Gotta second that recommendation!!!!
I had an original equipment enclosed turnbuckle literally shatter a number of years ago on a pretty windy day. Asounding how much energy is released when a loaded weather turnbuckle goes "poof". Thank goodness it was a lower not an upper!
The next day 8 new open superstrong turnbuckles were installed!!!
1 open turnbuckle, the rest closed barrels, I am on-board with changing those out: I brought all of the rigging home to inspect during the week. Open turnbuckles, ring style cotter pins, rigging tape and no more rigging rollers. Plenty of growth in the wires from being enclosed. Swages all look good.
The furler I have, means once a year use of the jib halyard. I did find a preventer at the top along with an unused block, perhaps a spinaker?
What do you do with your jib halyard? My wire halyard currently stays on the mast winch with a short length of rope to cleat it off.
Hijack: Anyone know the best way to clean the mast? I've got a lot of dark scuff marks on it. I don't know if there is any kind of factory film or paint on it that I need to be careful about.
The aluminum develops its own protective coating, Oxidation I think so you don't want to remove it. You could try some non- abrasive cleaners like Fantastic or Lestoil but try it in a small spot. If the aluminum starts to get shiny you are removing the protective coating and you don't want to do that.
I ordered the turnbuckles, replacement lenses for the lights, new 4pin connector and a transom trim (random thought)That along with cleaning the green out of the wire shrouds should get me going for the season.
