I did a touch up on Passage where I got a bad dock burn last year. I got into my kayak and rigged a line so I could hang onto the boat. I wiped on the cleaner, scrubbed off the rash, then reapplied poliglow. You can see a slight ridge around the new section that I feathered, but its not obvious.
That's a point about PG... Over time it will dull somewhat, like gelcoat, and it can be worn off by fenders or other things rubbing on it, but essentially it doesn't disappear like wax. After several years of annual dress-coating (and "patching" as Bruce describes), some people choose to remove it and start over, in some cases because it's starting to discolor. Ordinary detergent won't remove it--Poly Prep or some other specific chemical cleaners will.
