Saw this Newport 30 just now on CL. It's a nice looking boat, and obviously someone has worked on the teak recently. If the price is correct, I wonder what's wrong with the boat?

And expensive. If you want to see a larger one, scroll up to the north-north west about two miles (around the point to the west of the marina). Shilshole is probably 2x the size, or more. Both are more than 2x what I'm paying for my marina.
David: doesn't your marina have a buy in? That should make it lower per month, but it is only cheaper if you amortize that buy in over many years.
My slip is a lot cheaper than shilshole too, but I have to get through the locks to go out to the sound, and barely have water or electricity. It wins for me by being cheap and a 10 minute bike ride from my house. I don't need electricity except for the occasional power tool. My marina is tiny (9 slips).
Yes, my marina had a buy in, and it's amortized over eight years at $20/month.
I wish I had the quick access you have. It's a forty minute drive in good traffic, and over an hour if there's a Mariner's or Seahawk's game, or any kind of traffic disturbance. Fortunately you can avoid most with the WSDOT camera system as long as you don't have a set time to be somewhere.
Ah, that is a pretty low buy in, and seems like a great price for being in brackish water with quick access to the sound. If I lived in West Seattle I'd check it out, but from our house it's a bit too much of a haul.
I'm not sure if we'd be boat owners if we didn't have such quick access to the boat. I like being able to work on projects a couple of hours at a time and being able to go sailing a couple of times per week. Our little "marina" is funky, but I like the folks down there and the location and price are great.
I can agree that Shilshole is quite expensive. I had pondered keeping a boat there, but I don't think it's right for me.
