To avoid getting wax on the bottom paint - we applied masking tape. Some wax bled under the edge of the tape and looks like heck. Anyone find a good product to remove wax from bottom (ablative) paint?

Yup--a paper towel. Some ablative paint will also come off. Either don't let it happen, or don't worry about it.

Personally I would not worry about it. I always paint the bottom first just in case if I don't have time or get caught by rain I want to ensure that bottom is painted. I don't even apply any masking tape. Just on the edge I don't use buffer and just wax it by hand. But i always get quite a bit of wax on paint. After week in water I can't tell - or maybe it's just not noticeable.
