I'm pretty sure that was 120. Prospector has helped us with invaluable information many times but he moves pretty fast and that 20 was probably a typo.

<br />I don't know SMShield - Someone with a CD kit should take a look at theirs, I remember peeling off the CD stickers and there was a secret code underneath now knowing that the 15 on it was the length, I would hazard a guess that one of teh other numbers would have been the thrust. I recall there being an 85 which could be thrust, but my memory is foggy and it was a long time ago.

My way of seeing this is that 2 X 20 lbs = 40 lbs of lift which is better than the 0 lbs of lift you get with nothing. With too much lift it is difficult to close the top.

A quick google brought up this site which has the struts in 15" lengths with incremental thrust - anyone up to weighing the top and seeing what it takes to lift it? http://www.autopartsbylou.com/lift-supports-products.php?ext=15&type=uni&x=10&y=10
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

Does anyone know what the final decision was for the strut force? Little Boat Iris Blog (who actually did the install used 2 20lb struts, whereas others used 2 120lbs. I don't think they can both be correct!!!
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

Later in the thread I clarified that it is 120 lbs of thrust - I should delete that post. Thanks mrapkins!

So the gas springs are 15 inches long when fully extended and exert 120 pounds of force just like this one (OK it's 15.25 inches)

That one should work. Its the distance between the pins that gives your length. Since they are never fully extended, 1/4"isn't important.

Looks like your blog is now by invitation only. I wanted to review your power-lift install. Is this possible?

If not, no biggie.

Mark.
