We're still locking down the details, but want to get the word out that we will be holding a C25/250 National Regatta at Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, Indiana this year.

Association member and racer Bill Meinert has put us in touch with the good people at Lake Wawasee for a Father's Day Weekend not to be missed! Events are to be held on June 14 and 15, with a set up date on June 13.

So mark those calendars and plan to bring your family and your boat for a great time! Lots more details to come in the following weeks. Happy New Year!

I'd love to come (for the first time since becoming a member) to the regatta, but there is just no way I could bring my own boat. Are there festivities and crew possibilities at this event or must you have your own boat there to participate? I was hoping that the national regatta could be a sorta reunion of all C25 owner with parties and events for all, even without a boat. Might help attendance to these things in the future.

Patrick,

Absolutely you should come even if you can't bring your boat. Use the Forum for contacting others for crewing possibilities. As we get boats committed, maybe we can up with more ways to facilitate this.

But boat or no, crew or no, come and help make this a great time. We do want to make it enjoyable for all. There is even a dinner cruise boat- more info on that later too.

BTW, a big thanks to you for making the decals. The Association members will be receiving those shortly.

Great, Ed, glad to know that the decals will be coming out. Can't wait to apply one to my boat. Also, I need to get a burgee block put up on my spreader one of these days so i can proudly display an Assoc. burgee!

Keep us up on the Regatta goings on, Also let me know if I can assist in any way (graphically speaking!)

Let's see, I could tell my board that I've been invited by the c25 National Association to invited to Syracuse, Indiana to offer prayers for the national regatta. Mmmmm! Works for me.

I'll think about it.

If it works out, I'll come to crew. Alas, poor osmepneo resides on a cradle this time of the year. Poor one doesn't have a trailer.

Since the 2002 Nationals were cancelled last year because of a lack of participating boats, I was wondering what is the minimum number of boats needed for the regatta?

Does anyone know of any or how many C25/250's might be on Lake Wawasee proper? What about the number of boats within trailering distance of Lake Wawasee? Are there any boats pencil'd in yet for the 2003 Regatta? How are owners who are non-internet users notified in time to plan and participate in the regatta?

Don, good questions. As to how many boats, it will depend on the local yacht club to make it worth their while to devote staff, committee boat, etc. Likewise our own Association costs.

Last year we had only 4 skippers who sent in deposit money, clearly not enough for any kind of event. We'd very much like a dozen or more, so if you can make it, commit early!

FYI, the planning committee is meeting at Strictly Sail in Chicago at the end of this month, and details of the Regatta will be forthcoming soon after. As far as getting the word out, the Association is sending out a TellTale newsletter with Regatta news to all members in the next few weeks, and we'll send a special mailing to surrounding states. We'll also post on our own website and with US Sailing.

Also, we do have the event on the US Sailing Calendar. Go to http://www.ussailing.org/odcc/class_resultsquery.asp and scroll down to the Catalina 25 listing and click on "Regattas".

Drop Bill Meinert or me a line ASAP to let us know you'll be coming. This will greatly facilitate our planning process. Syracuse, Indiana is a must-attend event in 2003!
