I might get a dry storage space for "Quiet Time" out at Folsom Lake tomorrow or next weekend. As of last week I was #7 on the waiting list, and the marina manager told me to call back tomorrow. Wish me luck! As for getting an in-the-water slip at the lake, I am #458 on the waiting list and can expect to move to the top just in time for my anticipated retirement - in 2012! I actually like the dry storage though. I don't have to paint the bottom, saving a couple BU's a year, and don't have to find a separate spot to keep the trailer. Also, the boat can't sink in the dry storage lot if one of the to-hulls fails while I am not there! The only downside of Folsom's dry storage is no electricity to run power tools and no water faucet for boat washing. But at only $600/year it's half the price of a slip, and I can keep the mast up since there are no power lines between the lot and the launch ramp.

But, Larry, for me it became a hastle to move my 22 from the storage area to the water and launch. But then again, a dry space is better than no space, and having to haul the boat to the water to use it. Kinda touch for a couple hour evening sail.

As I've aged simplify has become my operative word. A bouy mooring was better than dry sail, but a dockis even better than a bouy. Simplify so that when I want to sail, its pretty easy to do!

The water level in our lake has risen enough that a couple of the Mac's are in. Our slip is still a little shallow for our fin keel, and our slip is not a floating one like the mac's are using. There is about 2.5 to 3 feet to the water level. But the contractors are tearing into the kitchen this week and said they would like to have more room in the driveway, so I guess we may have to launch this week end anyway. Perhaps I will see if there are some mooring bouys avaliable.
Larry have a good one, and perhaps I will be able to make it to one of the races at your lake. I think there is one scheduled for next month.

Evening sails during the work week are not possible for me; the driving distance from my house to Folsom Lake is an hour each way. I have to get my fill of sailing on weekends only. The dry storage is better than nothing.

Folsom Lake Yacht Club does two big races next month: The Cameilia Cup on the first weekend of April and the Trans-Folsom long distance race on the second weekend. If I get dry storage, I will be out on the lake for both, and might enter the Trans Folsom in Cruiser class. If you want to sign up, the FLYC website is:
