If the part had precision mechanical components, most would not hesitate to purchase such a component for their boat. Alas, the part is cast stainless and a wing nut. So I'm getting by with two, one of those using a fender washer because the pop-top struts I installed over winter caused misalignment (Cat-Direct strongly suggest having four). SOLELY because of this ridiculous price, I'm considering lockdown, like that Pacific going C25 in Huntington Beach, California. My eyes been open to ANY alternative, in stainless.
^^^I was going to say, that one is chromed brass. But then I reread the link in the first post and they BOTH are. I assumed the first one was stainless, so it justified the price a little.
I've been looking at it in my wish list for a while and would have said something earlier, but I thought we were just venting over chromed pot metal selling for $64.

Thinking through the process of adding gas struts so the pop top will go up with ease and trying to find out all the "details" that don't get mentioned until you get into the job.
New trim. Two new hatch fasteners as well as replacing the old ones. New gasket. Removing the old gasket. New winches on cabintop to winch up the pop top while I work on the struts. Strops.
What does it specifically involve to finish the project. My boat is an hour away from my shop.
I never did like the 1 inch vinyl trim around the cabin. Splits and breaks and the side is about 2 inches high. Holds crud in the top edge of the vinyl.
My OEM latch is like 2 metal barbs sticking out and often jams when I lower the top almost breaking out the lower part.
My Stamas ( another boat ) has the Whitecap Skylight Hatchhook ($14.00) for the front hatch and I like it but the knob on the CD latch is easier on your head if you bump it. I may use the Whitecap and dip the bottom of the arm with electrical whipping paint. Might even trim the arm.
Add the latch fasteners last after everything has settled down into place.
<< How does the pop-top opener affect your winches? Where do you winch your halyards to now? >>
Ya gotta work on the finger coordination on that the.. :)
anyhoo.. Naw.. I didn't have any winches on the cabintop.. and the lines were ending up on the mast. So the latest project was adding Marelon winches to the cabintop. Right now I've got one jib halyard running back on the strbrd side and when the money comes in I'll add another on the port side for the main halyard. New windscoop rocks!
Check these folks out. I have purchased from them and they seem to be good.
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> Just a little word of warning: They shorted me on an item, and I tried for weeks to contact them and got NO RESPONSE. So I had my credit company reverse the charges, and still never heard from them.
So if you buy from them, always use a charge card (never PayPal) and expect zero service of you have a problem.
