I've noticed today that the forum seems to be slow to respond to requests. I know that I have a slightly wonky router, but other sites are responding normally, so I don't think it's the router.
Anyone else seeing slow downs?
Edit: for example, it took about 25 seconds from clicking the "Submit" button till the page reloaded to display this new post. Normally this only takes a second or two.

Prequel to a pledge drive for more bandwidth, hopefully :) When your checking account has "bill-pay," does that mean I can push buttons to cut a check to the Association dues address? I've never banked with that feature.
It's bad enough for me that I have other tabs open. I click on a forum link and go surf another site until it comes up.
It's like being back in the days of dial up internet and having multiple sessions open. Click a link in one, then go the another session, read, click a link and go back to the other session and read, click a link...change sessions...
I thought it was my computer. Cleaned it all out and is still slow to respond. If this keeps up, I want my money back. I think it's the 1.7 million guy messing with the site.
I thought I was starting to hear the squawk of a US Robotics 9600kb modem when calling up the forum. Of course I'm old enough to remember when that was screamin' fast.
Ummm...when I was in high school, we used a 75 baud (screaming fast for the time) modem that actually connected with a physical phone into the foam cradles. We had to connect to the local community college to get time on their main frame. We mostly played Star Trek on the teletype. When we got the 300 baud modem toward the end of the school year, well, that was something.
You mean you can connect with technology other than a modem on dialup now? I just plug stuff in and be amazed. Have no idea what anything sitting in front of me on my desk is. Oh wait - except the TV looking thing. Its a computerized TV screen that talks to this typewriter thing.
LOL...oh man....300 baud aural modems....does that take me back...to a TRS80 (trash 80)....phone rings, pick it up and shove it into the phone cups....then you and your buddy were connected....and if you "knew" someone you could connect to arpanet (now the internet) and use tools like archie, gopher, veronica to look for files, or better yet.....the earliest days of forums like this: usenet.
Imagine....alt.sailboat.catalina25........
Back in the early 90's I was seriously hardcore....I had 8 pone lines running into my apartment and had a Greater BBS powered BBS....an old 386 with an "octopus" phone card....I hosted files and a connection to the net for email service and usenet for my subscribers. It was ALOT of work and I never came close to turning a profit but I ended up with an impressive (for the time) collection of porn.
