what do you use to make the aluminum look nice.. mine appears to be spotty.. with a white contour in the affected areas.. some look darker.. difficult to explain.
I think the frames are anodized and won't polish out very well with regular metal polishes... maybe some light abrasive cleanser.. light emery cloth, synthetic steel wool?
Hmm...those are best ideas I can come up with... might try a small spot and see what happens.

Tried the steel wool on the windows.. but nothing.. should i clean them up and apply some enamel to cover up the defects? Everything looks great except for the window frame!
Is there any product that will eat away the corroded parts?
I've got the same kind of "splotches" on my frames ... if you ever figure out how to make them look better, PLEASE let us know! I've used a half a dozen different things on them, and I'm no better off than before.
BTW ... "Wet Pretzel" ... ? ... you'll have to explain that one! 'Kinda' cool name ... 'reminds me of one at our marina ... "Burnt Toast" ...

I've been thinking about covering the interior ones with Teak molding....not sure what to do with the exterior frames so I second Buzz's comment above...Find something good, let me know. Incidently, they are coming out again this spring, since the darn things still leak.....They aren't coming out again..
Would love to hear the story about wet Pretzel (including the graphic above the name) and Burnt Toast...sounds like a wife said you could get a boat, but I won't stick around...Guy said fine with me gimme the boat, and now the only thing he misses is the burnt toast she used to serve him in the morning???

The name "pretzel" comes from a nickname we used to give my freinds sports car. It's a Subaru IMPEZA.. impreza=pretzel. "Wet"... because she ain't no regular pretzel
I lived in thailand (where i got the sticker done0 and had them write in thai The other side says it in English.
i am gonna head to home depot and find out what they use to clean aluminum windows.. maybe give that a shot.. i was also considering using a dremel and maybe sand down all the worn parts..

quote:
here.. managed to get a pic of it:

IMHO the above is most probably a result of someone using teak cleaner with the handrails still attached to the cabin top - the cleaner runs down onto the aluminum frames and etches the finish. I'm not aware of a product that will correct this.
While I had my windows apart for resealing, as I side project, I had new tinted glass made and the frames re-anodized. Actually, now that I think about it, I had them anodized because the new Lewmar portlites in the head made the original main salon frames look so terrible . . . it's like a house - one project spills into another!
