Catalina 25 1980 Hull # 2008. I am the 2nd owner of the Evening Sun. I purchased her in 1989 and have moored in Montrose Harbor at Chicago ever since. The boat has always been on Lake Michigan and was owned by a Catalina employee before me (worked at Chalet in Wilmette, IL-where I bought the boat) . New UK sails and standing/running rigging in early 2000's with little use since. We have purchased a summer home and spend most of our time there during the boating season. The lake is too small for a C25 and as we seldom use her anymore we have made the tough decision to sell. Also the kids are grown and no longer in the area. Boat is in the water now and ready for any sort of demo sail requested. We always take her on a two week trip around southern Lake Michigan and on this spring's trip she was a joy to be on. She has a rare red hull with white deck. Swing keep works well with no issues and has only been used once each spring to lower the keel and once in the fall to raise. Bottom paint every few years with touch up as necessary - 5k on knot log. Sailmaster 9.9 electric start that starts easy and runs well. Priced for quick sale at $2,750 firm. Clear title in hand. Email glenn@barrhouse.com for more information or to see the boat.

Some have asked what options the boat has. A Catalina sales employee bought her new and had nearly every option. Pop top with cover, full head with holding tank, cockpit cushions, autohelm (works very well), etc. Head was replaced 10 years ago and works well. Storm jib, two 110's, newer UK 135, two 160's, crusing spinnaker, newer UK main and original main. Two battery option with built in switch (only single battery installed as 2nd went bad over the winter). Many of the suggested Catalina upgrades have been done. Always covered during storage.

Hello, someone asked about storage without a trailer. Montrose harbor has storage right next to the harbor and they lift your boat out, put it on jacks and swing it back in. We used to take it up the lake to Wisconsin to store but this is too easy.

One or two folks have asked why the rock bottom sales price, is anything major wrong with the boat? I own and manage 3 businesses and don't have the time or energy to deal with an extended sales process. There is nothing major wrong with the boat, if it does not sell I will keep her and use her when I can. Come see and sail her and you will find a well kept old boat that still has many years of service left. Nothing needs to be done or bought to daysail or cruse with her. She could use new cushions but I will leave that to the new owner or a later time. Thanks all for the interest. Glenn

It went really quick. My advice is to someone looking for a boat is to GO SEE IT and forget about the pictures. All C25's look basically the same ;) The pictures I have of the boat make it look nearly new and this is not the case as it is a well used 32 year old production sailboat with normal signs of use. I was hesitant to post them so not to mislead potential buyers...

I'll have to disagree with your summation of including pics. If they aren't accompanying a for sale ad I immediately ask myself why. Eye candy ALWAYS attracts more people. Yours went fast because you were asking 1/2 or less of the value.

Hi Dave, I have to disagree with your picture comment. You did not need pictures to determine my boat was worth twice or more than what I sold it for!
