Our halyard for the main has been coming off the sheave and jamming with the sail stuck half way. I have ordered a new sheave from Cat direct; they say it now fills the whole slot. We are old guys and have a rigger coming to do the job with a bosun's chair.
How difficult is this job? What kind of pin secures the sheave. It's costing us $200 for the labor. We need to have it done right.
Dave...unless the pin is galled, this is a relatively easy project. Check the Owner's Manual (see listing on left side of this page) for diagrams and dimensions of the the mast head components. Nothing special about the sheave pins but would suggest replacing them along with the sheaves(2). If you dropped the mast it would be even easier and would require just a few basic tools.
