So yepper.. I grabbed my old topmost hatchboard by one side and the wood broke off. Getting up early on the boat I would rise half asleep and slide the hatch open and lift up the pop top with brute strength, in the process breaking the top of both guides to the companionway hatch.
OK... Ya gotta remove the top companionway board before raising the poptop.
Gorilla Glue makes a new glue that is activated with water and is clear and cures up in 30min to an hour. Wet down the boards, and spread the glue and clamp. Using 2 c type clamps and a strap clamp it worked wonders.
Sailed all morning after a gas fill and pump out at the Marina. Just a great day. White banks of clouds moving over a blue sky with wind in each front of clouds.. The MC scow's racing at the yacht club. Back in by 1:00 and just exhausted..
I love Sailing...

I used Gorilla Glue on my tiller and so far it's worked fine. I also used it to glue a 1 X 3 strip of wood to the bottom of the bilge cover and it worked perfectly to strengthen that partially deteriorated cover. It's stronger than new now.
Similar thing happened to me. The top crib board broke off a chunk of the port side slider. I used Gorilla Glue ( made sure to keep wiping the foam away as it cured), sanded it, reapplied Cetol and it's as good as new - maybe better! I always wondered tho whether I did it, or some one else down at the slip might have been messing around with it. ~~~ it's fine now.
