I'm interested in a new set of cushions for my C25 w/ Traditional layout. Mine appear to be original and are in good condition aside from the foam and zippers. Can they be cleaned and repaired? New foam would be a must. I'm shopping around locally. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks,

Brian & Joanne: If you do a search on "cushions" you should find some suggestions. I recall that some guys have just washed the covers. I would suggest to gently try washing the smallest cover, with something like Woolite by hand and then drip dry in the sun. At least you could try it while reducing the possibility of ruining all of them. A good sewing or upholstery shop could help you with replacing the zippers. Best to check with your local BBB before you give your old cushions to someone to repair. (A friend thought he had lost his, when it took more than 6-months to get them back, from a guy that promised...then failed to deliver). Doug
Well, most of the fabric is dry-rot. We plan on getting them re-upolstered in the off season (after November) at a local shop with new foam, fabric, and vinyl on the bottom like the originals have. The cockpit cushions will be Sunbrella in a striped pattern. The cost should be reasonable. I was hoping to match the original plaid but not too much available. I think we'll go with a Blue/Gray tweed instead.

Catalina must've gotten a really good deal on that stuff in the '80s. Getting rid of it was my Admiral's top priority--only after that could I buy a new engine.

B&J: If you haven't already, check with automotive upholstery shops--some have also done boat work and will have good fabric samples to pick from. We went with a Sunbrella upholstery (not canvas) material for the interior--durable and with a soft texture.
Thanks Dave - The shop I'm working with is exactly that, an Automotive Interior restoration shop. I have a buddy that does antique and vintage car restoration and he suggested his guy. Much more reasonable than a marine interior shop. The tweed I'm looking at is about $25/yd. and Sunbrella runs $40/yd. I'm going with Sunbrella on the cockpit cushions.
