Considering either selling my '86 Catalina 25 swing keel or possibly swapping for a Capri 25. Mainly for trailering reasons. The Capri looks to be a little lighter and easier plus my growing family needs more cockpit room and less interior room {as my wife refuses to sleep below}. Any suggestions appreciated.

Not sure how a Capri 25 would be easier to trailer than a swing keel. Don't get me wrong, it can be done (strap launch), but the swing sits lower on the trailer.

Cockpit space, OH YEAH, the Capri has tons over the Cat 25. Down below, eh, it's decent enough in size, just no headroom.

Thing is, the Capri is significantly faster. The Cat 25 holds up better than the Capri to a blow, hence others will consider it tender, it is NOT tender, it DOES stiffen up, and the sailtrim options allow you to compensate for the heavier winds, so it can be done.

The Capri 25 IS lighter than the Cat 25, but I didn't think so much that you'd feel it except on the water. Towing, OK, but sitting higher than the swing keel Cat 25 on trailer, it's probably a wash of a feel on the trailer.

I absolutely love this boat, (the Capri 25). I like the lines of the Cat 25 though too... if you regularly sail winds 15+mph, then the Cat 25 is probably going to be easier to sail. Since I solo sail a lot as soon as I hit 20mph I am usually considering heading in.. But in light air, <10mph, very few boats can touch this thing.

Things to look for while hunting... wobbly rudder, soft bulkheads, loose chainplates, wobbly keel. Obviously good sails help.

Any specific questions, feel free to email shnool @ yahoo I've only had this boat for half the season, but upgraded from the Capri 22, which is identical, only smaller and slower.
