I am looking forward to sailing this weekend. I am meeting up with my 2 sons to sail for the weekend. My son sails out of Harrington Harbor, near Deale, Md. Last time I was there It was blowing 25+ and 40 degrees. I am sure it will not be that cold. This will be such a treat not being locked on a 7 mile long lake. From what I saw on my previous trip, this is a fantastic place to sail. Our previous trip we moved the boat from Deltaville,Va to Deale. Quite an undertaking the 1st week of April with head winds @ 25-30 and 40 degrees. At least there wasn't a lot of traffic.

For the past week or so, temps have been fairly moderate and winds have been good. If present conditions continue, you shouldn't need heat or even a sleeping bag at night on the boat, but I'd bring a sleeping bag, just in case. I'm presently only using a single blanket. Like everywhere, it has been a hot summer here, but it's getting very nice now. You should have a good trip. Enjoy!
I'm finding it hotter and more humid out on the water (79 degrees and 70+ degree dewpoints) than on land this past week. A few weeks ago I slept in Passage and did not need any kind of cover. As in most locations, this summer has been hotter than ever. I think you're going to love tooling around the Chesapeake Bay. It is so broad with so many places to visit. Caution tho it is shallow in many places and its quite busy with shipping and fishing boats. Being shallow with strong currents, chop can get fierce. A GPS and good charts, a guidebook to port amenities, a good crab net and perhaps an AIS receiver may be wise investments. Enjoy visiting with your sons.

Fixes are within a few minutes.
Thanks Guys, We have all that stuff. Son sails a 35' Beneteau. One of those guys that has to have All the toys. Looking for a great weekend sailing with my sons. doesn't happen often. Other son is flying in from Kansas City.
Well, My luck has not changed. Had a great weekend in Harrington Harbor yacht club, met a lot of nice people, saw a lot of beautiful boats, and got to sail for all of 3 hours before all the big storms hit. I asked my son, why, when I go sailing with you, are we the only boat out?
What a great sailing venue. Just wish I didn't get beat up every time I go there
Sorry you had a rough weekend! We were watching the Doppler radar all weekend while sailing on the Delaware, and kept seeing the red blobs on the lower Chesapeake. They seemed to stay down there the whole time and did not appear to affect the upper Chessie or Delaware at all (aside from some morning showers).
My grandparents lived in Deale (Mason's Beach), back when HH-south was called "Fair Haven" if I recall correctly. I have great memories of wading the tidal flats with a crab net. It's a great place for all kinds of boats, and I hope to cruise down there sometime.
