Steve, It's a new(?) TV show. I think I was watching the pilot last night, but not sure. It's like Alan said, sea-going tow trucks. One segment was a family run salvage operation that was trying to lift a 30' derelict sailboat off the bottom in about 15' deep water with air bags (and not overly successfully), another was a couple of guys who are like the tow trucks, trolling outside of Miami for people in trouble and then racing against similar boats to get there first. Another segment showed a couple of young guys pulling a derelict ski boat up onto the sand of an island after righting it by brute force and then towing it so fast it could just barely stay above water. They used a slingshot maneuver (at night) about 40' off the shore to sling the hull up onto the beach (sort of). Then once they discovered how beat up the hull was, they simply left it on the shore & headed back out.
It was interesting to watch, but I'm not sure I'd want any of the tow boat people on the show putting a line on my boat. Here's a link to the show: Shipwreck Men The guys in the orange shirts on the page are the two who slung the ski boat up onto the island.
