Hello, I'm considering a Catalina 250 but need some measurements. Hopefully someone is trailered right now and can provide these for me:
1. The height on the trailer with and without the life lines. I have a 8' garage door that I'm hoping it will fit in. I think I cam make the life lines removable by cutting them and using an insert to re-attach.
2. The height of the water line on the trailer (for launching purposes). I'm assuming the water line without the wb tank filled will be lower. Does anyone know the difference in water with the tank empty? Basically I have 3' at my ramp at high tide.
I think the 3 ft is right on the border line if your including the trailer height also. Maybe others will chime in but I don't think my WB comes off the trailer with less than 4 or so feet of water. Not much gear on board either. Maybe you could push it off but you still have to get it back on the trailer.
You may wish to refer to the following site for C250 specifications which mentions a trailer/boat height of 9'3". However, with stanchions, pulpit, tabernacle, mast and rigging removed it just may fit. (At one point we considered shipping the boat in a standard 8ftx8ftx40ft transport container to Europe).
Launching in only 3 feet of water maybe insufficient or perhaps just borderline to float the boat off the trailer without a filled ballast tank

9'3" sounds about right since my wing keel version was a little over 12 feet if you included the mast riding on the pulpit. You won't squeeze in to an 8' garage door.
The boat needs to rise 10" above the back end of the bunks in order to move aft off the trailer. So I would estimate that the trailer wheels would have to be about 46" below the water surface, and that may not be enough.
Thanks for the replies. I would still like to get the actual measurements if anyone can get them.
My idea was to make the life lines removable, by cutting them and using an insert to re-attach them. The bow pulpit I can lower by lowering the trailer jack.
I do have access to a ramp with 4' of water. I really wanted to find out what the height of the water line is on the trailer with the wb tank empty, which would tell me how much water I need.
