Whooohooo! I am very grateful to this board and especially Frank Gloss. I have been on the hunt for over a year for a 89wing. I have had one nice one slip through my fingers right here in town(Eugene, OR). Frank sent me a email on a boat available in Salt Lake Utah. I had the owner send photos and we made a deal on the boat yesterday. I am very excited about the new boat. I have sailed 25's for 18 years now and believe they are the perfect boat for me and my wife. We look forward to taking the new boat to the San Juan Islands and enjoying many hours of sailing. Again thanks to all of you for helping me locate a boat and answering question along the way.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Glad you found a WK not too far from you. Since you are located not too far south of Seattle area, would you be interested in hooking up with our group (Catalina 22 Fleet 4) when we do our San Juans/Gulf Island cruise? We usually have between 4 and 8 boats and go around the end of July. We have at least 3 skippers who have expressed an interest in going again this summer. I'll let you know when we decide for sure and send you a definate invitation if you're interested. Who knows, I might even have that '88 WK (the mystery boat in Miller Park Marina), in time for the cruise if I ever am able to track down the owner!.

Way to go Bruce,

Bruce sent me a pic of his boat, and I think it might be prettier than the one I just bought, has a dodger and everything.

Glad to see someone else as excited as I am with their newfound toy.

Hey Bruce,

I just thought of something else. You get to learn the secret handshake now.

I just did the secret handshake with the local Honda dealer. 2500 for an 8 hp power thrust extra long shaft with electric start tiller handle. My hand is still aching. But purty boats like ours deserve purty engines.

Thanks for all of the kind comments you guys! Now what is this "secret handshake" thing all about? I hear it involves a piece of leather and a monetary offering of some type.

Bruce,

check out my post of a few days ago asking about the secret handshake. The responses reflected the collective insanity of the usual suspects.

Congrats on the new vessel.
I now have a real bad case of "wing keel envy".

Larry, keep us posted on that San Juans Cruise. I'm planning on dragging (well, hopefully towing) the C25 up there from Eureka this Summer... and late July sounds about right.

It would be fun to go in a "fleet" with folks who have been there.

The San Juans cruise is tentatively scheduled to run from July 19 to August 3, or August 10 for those participants who want to do a full three week cruise (which some of the retired folks might). We launch at Squalicum Marina in Bellingham, WA, and usually spend the first night in the marina, which allows everyone to finalize their provisioning and fix anything that needs to be fixed on the boats. Bellingham has a West Marine, and a Fred Meyer super-store, go it's a good town to start a cruise from. Squalicum Marina is a beautiful facility with concrete docks, excellent launch ramp, and Bellingham Bay is a great place to sail in. We pre-arranged our visit with Squalicum Harbormaster, and he let us park at the launch ramp parking lot for the whole time. They were really nice to work with. My itinerary last July: after the first night in Bellingham we went to Sucia (1 night), then Bedwell Harbor to check into Canada, then Otter Bay (1 night), Ganges Harbor for a day visit and to get gas if needed, Then Montague (1 night), then Wallace Island for an afternoon visit, then Telegraph Harbor (1 night), then Sidney Spit (1 night), then Sidney Marina (1 night), then Roche Harbor to check back into the US, then Sucia again for 2 nights, then back to Bellingham. Some of the group made side trips to Victoria, Butchart Gardens, Friday Harbor, Nanaimo, and Chemanis. It was GREAT! You would be more than welcome to hook up with us, the more boats in the group, the more fun!

I know that this is really silly, but I think wing keels look really cool when you have the boat hauled out.

I'm sure Bruce would agree.

I'm still looking for an article on the physics, hydrodynamics and engineering of wing keels.

I know you'll "love' your c25 and the wing keel. As Frank suggested they are very enchanting (is the right word, I don't think so) when you first see the wing, at least i thought so <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Congradulations Bruce!

Let us know how the wing feels compared to the swing.

Enjoy!
