I am one of those techno geeks that loves social media like facebook and twitter (to a limit). I have for several months belonged to the Catalina 22 Sailboat Owners Group and could not find anything like that for the Catalina 25...... so, I created one.
Please consider joining (no charge!) and post pictures of your C-25 and stories of your adventures.
Hmmmm... Why not here? Personally, I avoid FB like the plague--too many "friends" who preach politics that drive my blood pressure up. (I won't say who or about what.) While I'm just a D.P.O. now, I value this community with its non-political standards and passion for the kind of sailing I appreciate. I can come here, be amused, try to help out, learn some things, and get to know some like-minded sailors of boats for which I developed a considerable appreciation. I don't qualify for a vote on anything here, but I'd vote to keep this the focal point and support its development.
I stand corrected: This organization DOES indeed have a Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/CatalinaCapri25. It just doesn't come up with the search of "Catalina 25". I have joined this group and may take mine down........... or not.
I'm interested in being able to post documents that we all could edit and download. Specifically I would like us to develop a complete checklist for every phase I.e. prelaunch, departure, etc.
Tom, the Gallery System is a great way to post an Album of pics with titles and Captions that describe practically anything to do with our boats.
Your idea of a Launch & Retrieve process would be a great addition. I'm guessing the process varies by boat to some degree, I doubt that anyone has an easier launch process than we do with the C250WB and compared to a C25 Fin Keel which surely has a totally different launch process.

quote:
DaveyJ: Did not know what "LMGTFY" stood for until I clicked on it. That is very cool!! LOL

That google tool is fun to play around with, but the important thing, at least to me, is that if anyone googles "Catalina 25", the association page is the first thing that comes up. Why splinter the info between other sites? All of the ideas, projects and improvements are right here.
Someone started a C25 "chapter" on sailnet a few years ago and it never took hold. The few C25 threads I've encountered there usually refer users to this website.
Interesting. Well, I created this one and provided the link back to this site as well as to the Facebook page that was started by someone else on this site, however it looks to be abandoned. I created this one in hopes that it might attract even more Facebook users into becoming a little more active. NO games, no sharing of your friends or friends of friends, etc......and now the local Sailing club that I am a member of is interested in registering as an official FLEETand hosting Regatta and other races. Stay tuned for more to come. I am reading the Fleet Captain Manual and filling out the application, presently.
