I found this fascinating. I had read a little about them but this was the first time seeing pictures. I'm sure there are many applications to sailing. Adding solar to wave power opens many applications. One, for example, would be to create accurate, updated charts of lakes.
Much faster is to have the lake/coast surveyed by a laser system that can get even the seabed with resolution below 1' at over 100' depth. They do the survey by aircraft and the result are apparently incredible.
Of course, they don't provide any 'flow' rate data which I'm sure the liquid robots would provide.
But an aircraft can survey the area in a fraction of the time.
