I was very pleased when I opened the boat this afternoon for the first time since winter and only found a minimal amount of clear water in the bilge. As I was cleaning up, I realized all the water than got in through the companionway ended up saturating my aft berth cushions. Fortunately, I got them off the boat, pulled the cushions out of the covers and found very little funk. I think they'll dry out pretty well. We'll see.

I used to pull all the cushions off the boat for the winter, but decided not to this time since I've stopped all the topside leaks and I had a huge amount of DampRid on the boat and a temperature/humidity monitor that I checked frequently this winter (never got about 60% RH).
I ended up pulling the aft berth cushions out because when Sandy came we needed to sleep downstairs in the house (due to risk of trees falling onto our top floor where the bedrooms are), and I needed the cushions for our makeshift sleeping arrangments. I just took the aft cushions down to the boat today. We splash tomorrow!
