Is there a way to remove the stanctions from the lifelines without destroying the lifelines in the process? Looks to me like the only way to get the stanctions off is to trash one of teh swaged ends.
Yeah - I have them all off, the ones closest to the cockpit have fatigued, probably due to folks leaning on them, or pulling the lifelines. The lifelines themselves are new, so I don't want to replace them if I don't have to.
Somebody broke the one on the port side nearest the forward end of the cockpit, and I replaced it alone, without removing any others. I can't tell you how, but I can only tell you that, on my C25 it could be done.
Hmmmm. Don't you have a turnbuckle at forward connections of lifelines? If you unscrew lifeline from turnbuckle the screw fitting should fit through the holes in stantions and then lifeline can be pulled through.
I spoke with a stainless fab shop today and they offered to rework the stantions without touching the lifelines (good thing they are already off the boat) - I was going te replace the stantions with new, but it sounds like a repair is not difficult and can be stronger than replacement. The shop also offered to repair my pulpit, so I'll load it in the truck for a quote at the same time.
