The admiral and I plan to sail over on one of the days, or maybe both days, to the Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival that is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19. Quite a mixed lineup, as usual for the CBBF. The headliners are Bonnie Raitt on Sunday, and Eric Burdon and the Animals on Saturday.
I had never heard of Samantha Fish, the singer/songwriter/guitarist from KC, but she turns out to be dynamite! Check out her chops on these 3 songs:
For those of you who have a boat on the Chesapeake Bay and like the blues, you should come on down and anchor at least 600 feet offshore of Sandy Point State Park.
I've noticed that when the sun sets or the day gets cooler, the sound carries very well offshore. Apparently the sound waves are partially focused by reflecting off the surface of smooth water and are partially refracted inside the cool layer of air just above the water, thus amplifying the sound a bit.
Happy sailing!

Hi John, I remember you anchored off it a year or two ago and enjoyed it. Sounds like lots of fun. And hats off to your post that you did as thoroughly as you do your cruise posts. Have a great time and hopefully you'll take some pics, do some video and post it!
