We sailed before the thunderstorms rolled through. I replaced my anemic 2.2 HP outboard that leaked (and caught fire twice)... with a 2004 2 stroke 3.5 hp Johnson... Quieter, FWD and Neutral... ran great... Put that on the upgrades list for the boat.
but the real story was the winds! This picture was in a cove where it was lighter... This should give you an idea of our run down the lake...
John; The boat looks terrific in the water. All your hard work has paid off and now you can reap the rewards of sailing her. Congratulations Jim Carlsen On behalf of the Capri 25 fleet at Konocti Bay Sailing Club (www.kbsail.com) Clear Lake, Calif.
John, great shot of your beautiful Capri. It looks awesome in the water. Storm? what storm. All is I is great sailing and blue sky:) Steve PS glad to see the site is up and running. Don't know what happened.
Yep, had no pictures of the storm that rained down on us about 20 minutes after those shots... winds kicked up and we got downpours... then it kind of pushed past us in a couple more minutes... really was a close call... Severe thunderstorm warning said gusts to 60mph, quarter sized hail... passed 6 miles south of us.
Wow, that could have been more exciting than you want! I think I've been out in maybe 25-30kn winds while racing before, but that'd be pretty scary in our boat, especially with the big hail.
