With a nice hole in my 30 year old mainsail, I need a replacement. I cannot afford to run out and buy a new one..so looking at some used ones. Will a Capri 25 sail work on a 25 tall? It looks like the Capri is .03 inches shorter on the foot and 12.6 inches shorter on the luff. I can deal with the smaller sail area...cruising not racing. Is there something I am missing here or will it work for my needs?

The Capri sail has been recommended several times here for raising the boom a foot (to the level of the standard rig), especially for TR owners wanting to install a bimini. But check where that would put your gooseneck relative to the "gate" (opening) in the mast slot. It's best to keep the gooseneck below that.
As for performance, you'll still have more sail than a C-25 SR, which for my purposes had plenty. (The genoa size, IMHO, is more significant to performance.)
Since many Capri-25 owners race (the Capri's strong suit), there should be good used sails around... Check the Wayzata Yacht Club in Minnesota--probably the largest Capri 25 racing fleet in existence.
Has anybody here done that transition? I have a Capri sail available, just hate to purchase something that won't work. From what I am reading the sail would be about 1 foot shorter on P and E measurements, thus raising my boom about a foot.
