i'm back from crewing a 43' GibSea across the Atlantic (first high sea experience) and we got served with everything nature has to offer from 4 days of non-stop gale (culminating with 40 kts winds) to many days without wind, and i just put my boat in the water, Lake Champlain seems so relax now :-D

on a side note, for those who own an iPhone or iPad, those work very well as marine GPS as long as you put them in a waterproof case, they have their own GPS and GLONASS chips and are standalone GPS without any cell phone network available...
Welcome to our country! Crossing the pond is quite an adventure--I only know from people who've done it. I have great respect for those who are willing to be a week away from <i>anything and everything</i>, where when weather arrives, you have no option except to <i>deal with it</i>.
