Previous owner left me with a simrad autopilot TP20. It seems to be all ready to go. There is a functioning power outlet for it, and a mount on the boat. What is missing is the pin to connect the tiller to the unit. He must have replaced the tiller because there is no sign on the tiller of a pin or a hole where one was.
I found the simrad manual online and the part I need is E02468. West Marine has the item in their system but cant get it anymore. Not sure what I should do.
How stupid is this idea? Raymarine sell an autopilot. They sell a pack of 5 tiller pins for $10. Any chance these will work on a simrad? Should this be a standard part? Any tips on getting the proper tiller pin?

If they don't work, you're not out a bunch of money, and you may be able to modify the pins to fit. If not, I'd think some time with a SS 1/4-20 bolt shaft and appropriate files would let you make a suitable replacement pin.
A search on ebay for tillerpilot pin brought up some. Not sure if the pin is the same for the different models. Most of the results showed up in the UK. Did you try to contact Simrad?

I continued to poke around the internet after I posted and found that as well. Mostly in a kit with the actuator tip, pin & some sort of bushing. Usually around £10-£12 or so, although I found one on Ebay for more than 2x that price.
Thanks for the detective work. I think the simrad pin you found has a different product number, tppk29. Maybe it is the same as the e02468. The photos on the web are too pixelated to tell. I have ordered the Raymarine pin. I also emailed simrad. I will uodate in a few weeks if i get it to work.
