My son John and two of his Washington State U roommates departed Bremerton Yacht Club 0900 June 14 with stops in Kingston, Wa, Pleasant Harbor, Wa with the final destination Tahuya on the Hood Canal. They arrived Tahuya 1400 June 16.

Thanks for putting those pix up, Mike; I enjoyed them. Looks like conditions were great for cruising; is that kind of breeze typical for early summer? Even in those relatively sheltered waters? I'm looking forward to getting up there myself in about 6 years or so, and this fired-up my imagination more than ever!

Lee, summer winds in Puget Sound are typically very light. Having grown up in San Bruno and Napa I am familiar with the Bay Area's strong winds. Although the waters here are sheltered the north or south seasonal winds combined with the general north south orientation of Puget Sound and Hood Canal make for a long fetch and when combined with countervailing currents a nasty chop can develop. Spring and fall have better winds. The scenery is always spectacular and there is so much to explore that several lifetimes would still leave areas untouched. And we do sail year round. It is a terrific area. Come on up!
