my wife and I are just back from our very first weekend on board our new (1984) Catalina 25..."Y Knot". We had a great time and didn't even leave the dock...mostly because I have no idea on how to do that yet. Seems like lots of offers from the other sailors on the dock will fix that on our next trip back to her.
The boat is lying in a pretty little cove outside of Picton, Ontario (gateway to the 1000 Islands).
we can't wait...love this website by the way...nicely done.
Ron, I just edited your forum account so that your email address does not show. When you login, just use ronkmarsh instead of your email address. You can also use that in the Members area login.
Welcome Ron I was visiting Watertown NY a few weeks ago and it seems like a beautiful end of the lake. Thinking about it got my juices flowing. Just wondering … with 1000 Islands, how many reefs and rocks are there?!? I'd imagine you'd get really good at reading charts real quick!

I would think there are lots of obstacles through there...if I get in that neck of the river..i'm just going to follow the guy in front..from a safe distance of course.

Probably the best characteristic, which helped me pick the C-25 years ago, is the friendly support--no pretenses. Every question is respected, although some lead to friendly debates...
Just being on the boat, on the dock, can be priceless! (Think of what some people pay to have a house where they can just see water.)
Welcome Ron, and spouse, to the world of C-25's, and to the Association, from a former '84 boat owner. I know that you will have a lot of fun and build lasting memories on her. be sure to sign up with Catalina Direct and get their parts book, if it did not come with the boat.
Again welcome to you and your family. Picton and surrounding area looks like a beautiful area to sail. Enjoy! IIRC we've had a couple of members from along the north shore of the lake and one near Prescott although none have been active of late...maybe check the members listing.
Voyager....actually there are over 1800 islands. (I grew up just upstream from Brockville.)

Remember to go night sailing soon, it is the best.

Perseid meteor shower peaks this weekend. We're not planning to do night sailing, but hoping to sail to a rural location away from the city lights for the night.
Maybe not, but some day come visit the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut and see how "real" sailors chased everything from whales to cod in the world's oceans in the 19th Century, by exploring the actual vessels they used, including the last wooden whaling ship in the universe. As Association Port Captain for the area, I'm on the hook for on-the-water tours or even just a quick IPA at a bar overlooking the traffic on the Mystic River with association members. Although it's below the border, I'll make the claim this is "N. Amarica's" foremost maritime museum.
Not to get too technical but which configuration do you have? Fin, wing or swing keel? Standard or tall rig? Dinette or double settee with swing down table? Original or updated interior cushions? Any special gear, furler, bimini, inboard vs outboard or spiffy electronics?
