I recently heard that Lake Stockton in MO is one of the ten best sailing lakes in the US. Was thinking about hauling the boat up there for a few days this fall? Have any of you sailed this lake or have any recommendations as to good launch site or marina to stay in for a few days?

Life is not a dress rehearsal. You will not get another chance.
Hello, I have sailed on Stockton a few times and have property near there where I will built a home and retire. It is a great lake with clear water, for a Missouri lake. I sailed out of Stockton State Park Marina. They have a ramp and also rent a Catalina 22 and 25. Check out their website for more info. I currently sail on the Mississippi River as I live much closer, but have been considering moving Peanut to Stockton so I don't have to deal with the flooding. I would highly recommend sailing there if you are close.
I took my ASA 101 and 103 classes with Larry Strait at State Park Marina in Stockton. Great experience, and a really nice sailing lake for our here in the midwest. I also chose to keep my boat at a lake closer to my house (Table Rock), but often consider whether it is worth an extra 70 minutes drive for better wind. The yacht club there seems to be relatively active as well, and I think the Governor's cup race is there in a few weeks. As stated above, you can rent their Catalina 25 for not a whole lot of money. It isn't as nicely outfitted as most of us have our own boats, but I've considered renting it a time or two rather than pulling my boat and trailering it all the way out there. As far as staying a few days, I'm not sure if State Park Marina has any transient slips open, but I do believe they have a few mooring balls. If you can't find anything there, you might also check with with Reed @ Orleans Trail Marina. AFAIK, those two are pretty much the only sailboat friendly marinas on the lake.
