I bought a C25 fin in 2000, sold it (on this forum) and bought a C320 in 2004, and sold the 320 last December. During this entire time I've been an active (but not real active) member of this group. Even when I sold the C25, I opted to stay connected to the forum. There are lots of good people and good information here, regardless what boat you own. Plus I've been a boater for 50 years and like to think I've learned a few things and can make a contribution...even if I don't presently have a boat.
My experience with Boat US has been different. When I sold the C320, I opted not to renew my membership Their response was to lock me out of their forum. I sent two emails to them, very tactfully explaining they were hurting themselves...the participation rate is very low, and getting lower. There is more participation here in one day on one thread, than Boat US gets on it's entire forum in a week. However, although they admitted participation was down, they were not concerned.
My better half has decided the recreation of choice (at least for a while) will be a 40' diesel motor home. However, I would like to thank the powers that be that run this forum for permitting those of us that are not members to continue to be active on the forum.
This Association was started with the idea of giving all access, regardless of type of membership, including non-members. I am glad you have enjoyed the forum and believe it to be one of the most successful ones around. Just to let you know, you could also show your support by becoming a member. We are currently offer Honorary Membership to those who do not own a boat. You would receive 4 Mainsheet Magazines and support a great organization. Steve Auerbach
Nice comments. Glad you've stayed around. A C320 will probably be my next boat. Just waiting until I have more time to do real cruising (and saving my money up, too).
I sold my C25 2 years ago, but still pay my Association dues. I consider it money well spent! Thanks guys for keeping this forum alive. It's a source of great information as well as entertainment.
