Any recommendations for anchoring in Oyster Bay this weekend? I will probably be anchoring in Oyster Bay Cove. This will be my first time at anchor and from what I can read, it should be fairly easy to anchor there. Anything I should see while I am there? I have it all mapped out on Homeport and my Garmin 541s with the g2 chip should do all the plotting to get me there safe.

Most anchor in West Harbor. That would be in the north east part of the bay off Centre Island and Bayville. Bottom is a black mud/silt so make sure the anchor is set. Very little if any wakes to rock you and well protected. They are saying N/E to E winds this weekend but light so West Harbor would be perfect. The Cove might be subject to wakes due to the boats entering and exiting the bay. Some impressive houses surround the bay owned by some well off's like Billy Joel, Doland the owner of Cablevision,Wang the owner of CA (Computer Assoc). It's a beautiful harbor.

I'm on CB-36 and will be there from Sunday afternoon to Tues. eve. Swing by and say "Hi".
If you need suggestions for shopping or eating let me know. Easy walk to Main Street.</font id="navy"></font id="size2"></font id="Comic Sans MS">

How'd the weekend go. Weather was perfect on Saturday and overnight, but got a little sketchy with fog & drizzle late on Sunday.

It took just under 4 hours motoring from Bayside as the wind was on our nose but the current pushed us along. The weather cleared up perfectly just as we got to Oyster Bay Cove and anchored just beneath Teddy Roosevelt's home then we met up with 4 other boats from our cruising club, Musceta Cove Yacht Club. We met on one of the boats for cocktail hour at 5 and shared our appraisers and dinners and got back to our boat at about 8. Very calm night with no wakes and left in the am about 10. Pretty nasty Sunday morning but I was able to sail most of the way back home on one tack sometimes reaching 6 knots. Overall it was a great weekend. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I will definitely make Oyster Bay a favorite destination.

Not sure how far for you but the Norwalk Islands and Huntington Bay are good hangouts as well. You definitely need good charts for Norwalk
