Does anyone know the circumference of the C250 mast? I am making a table for mine, and live too far from the marina to go measure. I think the standard table is too large and takes up necessary space. Thanks.
I don't think I understand what you are doing. Are you making a table to go on the deck at the mast? or are you talking about the interior table? The pole that the factory table goes around inside is not the same size as the mast. It is much smaller.
I agree that the stock table(at least on the water ballast and early wings) was too large. My solution was not fancy but very functional. It combined a second ice box with a table top.
This box is used for drinks whether daysailing or cruising. It is easier to access than the galley box and minimizes openings of the primary box.
The table top finishes out to a very good height and serves very well for two people eating. I sleep in the v berth and the box or table top doesn't restrict access.
The ice box sits within a box constructed of 1/8 inch plywood. Inside 45 degree angle stock allows glueing and stapling the corners but doesn't interfer because of the rounded corners of the cooler. The bottom is 1/2" plywood and the box is mounted to the coffee table by four wood screws. A cut out for the drain spicket allows the cooler to be tilted into the mount so the ice box is removable. The wood top is screwed to the top of the ice box from under the lid.
Only thing I'd like to do to mine is raise the table top about three or four inches. I found a piece of aluminum but discovered the ends need to be crimped to a taper. Wonder where I could find another pedestal?
In reply to Arlyn - I am talking about the inside table and the circumference and diameter of the mast support pole (the nice shiny chrome one) - Maybe I was a bit vague- but it would interesting to try and make a table for the outside to attach to the mast!
To others - yes I have seen your modification using the icebox, but if the table is on the icebox, then how difficult is it to grab a drink? - wouldn't you have to remove everything from the table top?
I should think that any RV store would have the mounting accessory for the table -I have seen this system used in many RV's/Vans.
I did make a table this weekend, up till three am - messing around in the garage. I still need the circumference and diameter of that pole if anyone has it. Thanks.
I have tried to tackle the "forever lasting ice" problem by combining many gel ice packs (old ones from my office)and squeezing them into one large clear plastic flat jug (found while cruising the Container Store) I think this maight keep cold for at least 3 days. - The flat plastic jug fits nicely in any cooler and won't rip like the original gel packs.
The reason I was questioning your post, I have seen a foredeck table mounted to the mast on bigger boats and was thinking a c250 was a little small for that.
I THINK if you make a hole with a 2 1/2" hole saw that would be good. If memory serves me the pole is 2 1/4". Hopefully someone with their boat at home will be able to measure to confirm or correct me.
I went out and measured the mast support, it is 2 3/8 dia, so I guess a 2 1/2" hole saw would be good. I also made a much smaller table, the origional is safely in my basement. The new one is 26" X 26". The corners are rounded with about a 6" radius. I removed the legs from the stock table and mounted them on the new one. We find that the little table is a good size for my wife and I, it is much easier to store (under the cockpit sole) and works great in the cockpit. I made the table out of a scrap of birch plywood, and used iron on birch tape to finish the edges. I would send you pictures but I don't have a clue about how to post them. Thanks Bill, yes, I rec'd your pics. - Wow that is one nice table. I read my email before reading your post here - and you answered my ?'s here. What did you use to finish the table - it has quite a nice shine. I will make another table this weekend - My prototype only measured 15" wide and about 20" long - much smaller. Thanks for the help.
I'm glad you got the pictures, I'll experiment with posting them here. I probably used a couple of coats of urethane varnish to finish the table. The urethane should hold up well to spills and abrasion. Although the table won't be outside all that much it wouldn't hurt to use one that is marked for exterior applications. I have had pretty good success with Minwax spar varnish. Bill, C250wb Serendipity

Nice table. You should have the step-by-step directions on how you built it posted in the tech tip section. From the looks of this thread other people could use your information.
