I know, I know… it’s supposed to be bad luck. However, once I went through all of the paperwork kept with my 1981 C25 when we took possession, I learned that her present name is her third so what’s one more? We completely removed the old name and everything associated with it from the boat. Now we have to ask the underwater gods Poseidon & Neptune to erase that name from their Ledger of the Deep so we can rechristen her RAG Sail II this coming weekend. Does anyone know of some fun ceremonies? We want to invite friends and have a good time.

Good to be back at sea!

Drink rum, pee off the bow, eat good food. You can skip step #2. Otherwise all the rest is Superstition to follow or not follow at your won discretion.

Love it! Should have realized there's a wind god. Thanks for not letting us be neglectful.

We renamed ours just so we could have a naming party. Neptune was thirsty.
Glad to see there is another Tanqueray fan among us.

Gin Really? Gosling's Black seal RUM (you know sailors liquor) and I'll sort yo out! Geesh and you call yourselves sailors!
And don't waste the alcohol on the hull of the boat PLEASE! Champagne is fine (since nobody really likes to drink it anyway).

Poseidon is the God you should be concerned with...
http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/rename.htm

I've not gone a season without providing a tribute to him in some way (pliers, ring dings, mast head fly, god knows what else, so I think he owes me right about now, etc)...

Or you can take the practical approach, and just change the name... and go to dinner (or make it yourself), after all, you'll get hungry eventually right?

Well we used the Vigor un-naming and re-christening ceremony this weekend and took the RAG Sail II out for her first voyage. This was the first time we used both main and genny. What a delight! Thanks for all of suggestions.
